You can turn your MyStories book into an audiobook, read aloud by an AI voice. You can listen to it on MyStories or download it to keep.
The audiobook costs $39 and is available with both Basic and Premium memberships. You can add it when you buy your membership, or buy it later from your dashboard.
💡 Is this the same as voice recordings? No. Voice recordings are recordings of your real voice, which readers can play by scanning QR codes in your printed book. How to create your audiobook
From your MyStories dashboard, click "Create audiobook". There are 3 steps.
You can explore the first two steps for free. If you haven't bought the audiobook yet, you only pay at the last step. Your progress is saved, so you can close the page and continue later.

You have two options. Both cost the same:
A professional AI (stock) narrator voice: Click play to hear a short sample of each voice, then choose one.
A cloned voice: Create an AI version of a real voice, such as the storyteller's. You'll read a short script aloud and record it live.
If you choose a cloned voice
Record in a quiet place. The recording must be at least 15 seconds, and reading the full script (about a minute) gives the best result.
If the recording is too short or too noisy, you'll be asked to record it again.
You can't upload an existing recording. This protects everyone from having their voice cloned without taking part.
Before you continue, you'll confirm two things: That you have the right to use this voice (if it's someone else's voice, that they agree), and that you'll only use it for your audiobook, never to impersonate anyone.
To record, click on the play button:
Don't like your recording after listening to it? Click on "Record again":
When you're done, click "Save & Continue" in the top right corner of the screen.
If you choose a stock narrator voice
Click play to hear a short sample of each voice, then choose one by clicking on the row of that voice.
Make sure the checkbox is selected next to your chosen voice, as shown below.

The stories in your printed book are selected by default. You can add or remove any story by clicking on the checkbox next to it.
You'll also see a rough estimate of how long your audiobook will be.
Stories saved as drafts can't be included. To include one, go to your dashboard, click the three-dot icon next to the story, and select "Mark as complete".
Photos and captions aren't read aloud. If a story depends mainly on a photo, you may want to leave it out.
You can also include your book's dedication. It's read aloud at the start of the audiobook. If you already added one for your printed book, it appears here. See: How do I add a dedication page to my MyStories book?

Check the text of your book in the preview. Look closely at spelling, since a misspelled word may be mispronounced. Play the audio sample to hear how the start of your audiobook will sound.
When you're ready, check "I confirm that the content is final and ready to generate".
Then:
If you already bought the audiobook, click "Generate audiobook".
If you haven't, click "Continue to checkout" to pay $39. Your audiobook starts once your payment is complete.
⚠️ Once your audiobook is created, it's final. Changes you make to your stories later won't appear in it. To get an updated version, you can regenerate it for $39. See: Can I change or regenerate my MyStories audiobook?
If something goes wrong while your audiobook is being created, click "Try again". You won't be charged again, and your choices are kept.
How to listen to or download your audiobook
When your audiobook is ready, the button on your dashboard changes to "My audiobook". Click it to:
Play the whole audiobook, or any single chapter
Change the playback speed
Download the full audiobook, or single chapters
Your audiobook is private. Only you can open it from your account, and there's no link to share. To share it with family, download the files and send them.
If you used a cloned voice, each downloaded file starts with a short spoken note that the narration uses an AI voice, created with the speaker's permission.
Good to know
Audiobooks are currently narrated in English only.
One voice narrates the whole book.
The audio can't be edited or trimmed after it's created.
You can delete your cloned voice and your audiobook at any time from your account settings. This can't be undone.
