MyStories includes a built-in AI editing tool that helps you polish your writing directly in the story editor — no copying and pasting into other tools needed. The AI suggests improvements, but you always stay in control: Nothing changes in your story until you decide to accept it.
The AI editing feature is available on desktop and mobile, and works in all languages supported by MyStories.
Where to find it
Open any story in the editor. In the toolbar at the top of the writing area, you will find the "AI edit" button next to the "Record" button.
On desktop: It appears as an "AI edit" button, with a wand icon.
On mobile: It appears as a wand icon button, to the left of the microphone (Record) button.
Clicking or tapping the button opens the AI editing panel. Clicking or tapping it again closes it.
First-time consent
The first time you use AI editing, you will see a short dialog explaining that your story content will be processed by Google Gemini to suggest corrections and rewrites. Tap "Continue" to proceed, or "Cancel" to close without making any changes.
The two editing modes
The AI editing panel has two modes: "Fix errors" and "Adjust style". You can switch between them at any time using the tabs at the top of the panel.

Fix errors
Fix errors
Use this mode to check your story for grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes.
How it works:
Open the AI editing panel and make sure the "Fix errors" tab is selected.
Click or tap "Find errors". The AI will review your entire story and return up to 8 suggestions.
Each suggestion appears as a card showing the original phrase, the suggested correction, and a brief explanation.
For each card, you can:
Click "Accept" to apply the correction to your story.
Click "Skip" to leave the original text as it is.
Click "Accept all" to apply every remaining suggestion at once.
Once all suggestions have been reviewed, you will see a confirmation that your story has been polished. You can run "Find errors" again at any time to do another pass.
Good to know:
Fix errors always checks the whole story — it is not affected by any text you may have selected.
Accepted corrections can be undone using the "Undo" button in the toolbar (or Ctrl + Z on desktop).
If your story is empty, the "Find errors" button will be disabled.
Adjust style
Adjust style
Use this mode to rewrite your story (or a selected portion of it) in a different style. There are five directions to choose from:
Direction | What it does |
Tighten | Cuts filler words and repetition to make the writing more concise |
Elaborate | Adds more detail, description, and scene-setting |
Warmer | Adds emotional warmth and openness to the tone |
Lighter | Brings in a little more levity and ease |
Conversational | Makes the writing sound more natural, like how you would say it out loud |
How it works:
Optional: Select a specific portion of your story if you only want to rewrite part of it. If no text is selected, the AI will rewrite the whole story.
Open the AI editing panel and select the "Adjust style" tab.
Tap one of the five style chips. The AI will immediately generate a rewrite — there is no separate button to click.
A preview of the rewritten text will appear in the panel. A note at the top will confirm whether the AI is rewriting your selection or the entire story.
Choose what to do with the rewrite:
Use this version — replaces your story (or selection) with the rewrite.
Try another direction — goes back to the style options so you can try a different option.
Discard — closes the rewrite without changing anything.
Good to know:
The style rewrite is all-or-nothing — you cannot accept only part of it.
Your story is never changed while you are previewing the rewrite. Only "Use this version" applies any changes.
Selecting a different style option while a rewrite is showing will generate a new rewrite in that direction.
An accepted style rewrite can be undone using the "Undo" button (or Ctrl + Z on desktop).
If your story is empty, the style buttons will be disabled.
On mobile
On mobile, tapping the AI edit button opens a panel at the bottom of your screen, so you can still see your story above it.
To make the panel bigger, drag the bar at the top of it upward. This gives you more space to read longer rewrites.
To close the panel, drag it back down or tap anywhere on your story above it.
In "Fix errors" mode, tapping a suggestion will automatically scroll your story so the highlighted text comes into view.
Privacy
